Winston Norton
What years were you a Ball Boy? 1957, 1958, 1959. What courts did you look after, what age were you? I Started at The Outer courts. Ended up on Number one. Aged 13, 14 and 15. Did you enjoy the task and why? Very much. As someone once said: ''Everyone has 10 minutes of fame.'' The sheer magnificence of the occasion was overwhelming. A never-to-be-forgotten experience. Did anything unusual/funny happen whilst you were on court? I cannot remember any specific funny incidents, just a feeling of being immensely happy. Which player did you most enjoy meeting and why? Darlene Hard was the ballboys' favourite in my time. She made you feel special. Hewitt was awful a bad-tempered pig who seemed to pick on the ballboys. Who is your favourite tennis player today? Andre Agassi. It was Boris Becker Do you play tennis now and if so do you belong to a club? I play occasionally at a club. Would you like to add any further information? I can remember being chased by schoolgirls - and running away! How naive. From: Winston Norton |
