What
years were you a Ball Boy? 1963/64/65 What courts did you look after, what age were you? All three years on number one court aged 14/15/16 Did you enjoy the task and why? I always looked forward to the Wimbledon fortnight. me being a tennis fan. Did anything unusual/funny happen whilst you were on court? I remember kneeling at the net one time when I was struck on the head by a tennis ball from a wayward serve. I even remember the players name, it was McManus, an American. I think he was more upset than I was Which player did you most enjoy meeting and why? Billie Jean Moffit/King not many players thanked the ballboys but she took time out to do that Who is your favourite tennis player today? Tim Henman (we have to support our own) Do you play tennis now and if so do you belong to a club? No but I play table tennis for a club Would you like to add any further information? I remember one year being on "box boy duties". Every day, late afternoon .used tickets were collected from the entrances to no1 and centre courts and sold again at reduced prices. the proceeds going to some local worthy cause. The duty of the box boy was to walk around the entrances with a box on a strap around your neck (HOW COOL IS THAT) collecting the used tickets. From: Mike Hultum |
