What years were you a Ball Boy? 1947 1948 What courts did you look after, what age were you? No,s Two, Centre & Three. Age at the time 16/17 Did you enjoy the task and why? Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect, from the coach journey leaving Goldings through to Wimbledon and the excitement of the tournament itself.Did anything unusual/funny happen whilst you were on court? Admonished publicly by an umpire when a Miss Gussie Moran was playing and much to the amusement of spectators was told "Ball boy keep your eyes on the ball and not on Miss Moran".Which player did you most enjoy meeting and why? Jaroslav Drobny after a very long drawn out game finishing late into the eveningWho is your favourite tennis player today? FederaDo you play tennis now and if so do you belong to a club? No, healthily RetiredWould you like to add any further information? The icing on the cake at receiving at the end of Wimbledon Fortnight back at Goldings, the sum of 30 shillings paid into pocket money account. My memories of "Gorgeous Gussie Moran" are quite specific to the occasion as ball boy on court where she was playing and being publicly told by the umpire " Ball boy keep your eyes on the ball and not on Miss Moran" much to the amusement of the spectators. I deny all claim to possession of her knickers.
