What years were you a Ball Boy?

1953/4

What courts did you look after, what age were you?

Cant remember but way down the list maybe 4 to 8 or there about 15/16

Did you enjoy the task and why?

Most of the time yes got hooked on Robinsons Barley Water and pork pies ( still am at 69 )

Did anything unusual/funny happen whilst you were on court?

I got hit in the eye with tennis ball served by Drobney had to wear an eye patch, was a celeb for a couple of days,but have to admit kept it on longer than needed thought it made me look rather piraticle

Which player did you most enjoy meeting and why?

Not Drobney thats for sure, I guess it would have to be two players Ulrich and Neilson they played in the doubles together, and apart from the fact they had a great sense of humour always larking about on court, they took the balls out of the net saving us ball boys a lot of running around.

Who is your favourite tennis player today?

Without a doubt " Nadal " its the pirate thing again

Do you play tennis now and if so do you belong to a club?

Yes I do play but not at a club but at the local sports centre

Would you like to add any further information?

I would love a group photograph of the ball boys for the years I was there together with there names. I have no pictures at all of myself as a teenager ( could be a bit scary finding one but am prepared to take the risk )
