What years were you a Ball Boy?

1950

What courts did you look after, what age were you?

Cannot remember, but it was one of the outside courts. The  smaller boys were used on Centre Court and No. 1 Court.
I was 16 years old.

Did you enjoy the task and why?

Very much. We were given vouchers for a meal and I loved the strawberries and cream! Also if we had no match on our court we were free to wander at will and I used to stand behind the TV. cameras and watch proceedings from there. The green Goldings blazer was like a passport. You could go anywhere.

Did anything unusual/funny happen whilst you were on court?

I was a ball boy for one of Budge Pattys matches (he went on to win the Mens Singles that year) when I failed to move out
of the way of a vicious serve and received a rather painful blow to the goolies. Everyone thought it was hilarious ,but
I walked a bit strange for the rest of the day.

Which player did you most enjoy meeting and why?

The above mentioned Budge Patty. He was a very nice person. The least liked was a guy called Larsen.

Who is your favourite tennis player today?

ANDRE AGASSI

Do you play tennis now and if so do you belong to a club?

I am a little old for tennis now.

Would you like to add any further information?

I noticed you are missing the 1950 group photograph. I will be pleased to send it for inclusion if you wish.
