Nurse Bateman helped run Sick Bay from 1962, but in the later years she had full responsibility with the assistance of Nurse Westrop in 1966, she left after a short while leaving Nurse Bateman in sole charge again. In 1966 Nurse Bateman was put under doctor's and Hospital orders, leaving the Sick Bay in the charge of Mrs Gegory and Mrs Darlton. In the spring of 1967 Nurse Bateman decided to take full responsibility of Mr. L. G. Mondin by becoming Mrs. Mondin as reported in the spring edition of The Goldonian Staff news section. This was the second time our sick bay nurse had been snapped up by one of the masters, I think it was Nurse Underwood who married one of the masters first. Mrs Eleanor Mondin, wife of Mr. Leslie Mondin passed away while in Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow on 26th April 1978 |
