Stapleton Towers was opened in March 1941 as
an evacuation centre for boys aged five to 14 years. The home closed in June 1948
today it is privately owned. In 1941 the property belonged to Captain
Ronald Ashton Critchley. 35/16 Childhood Memories a photographic history of Dr Barnardo's William Cupples who was 67 in 1997 was at Stapleton Towers evacuation centre in 1941, arriving with a party of boys from Northern Ireland. William would like to make contact with any of the boys.
