Little Bardfield Hall an old Elizabethan mansion was opened August 1940 as a mixed home. In October 1942 it was changed to a home for children under three. This home was a special American foster home.

Little Bardfield Hall was officially opened in 1941 by Her Excellency Mrs. Anthony Drexel Biddle, Junior, wife of the American Ambassador to the Allied Governments in London, on Tuesday the 21st October at 2.45 pm .

The home closed in 1945 at the wars end.
