In November of 1943 Dr Barnardo's took over the property at 9 Links Gate and opened it as one of their girls homes. Then in 1966 it added a nursery. Change happened again in September of 1968 when it became a  day care unit. Change came again when September 1971 providing accommodation for boys and girls. A lot of the homes were being closed but  in April 1975 it changed to a home for children with physical and learning disabilities. The home Moved to 11 Links Gate in May 1977.
