John Capel Hanbury Hospital / School was opened 1923 it had been moved from the East End of London H. M. Hospital, Stepney. In 1947 John Capel Hanbury Hospital combined with Australasian Medical Unit Barkingside. The Children were moved to New Mossford Barkingside in August 1975.

This home is listed on page 77/ frame 6 of Childhood Memories a photographic history of Dr Barnardo's

Other information I have is that the Hanbury Hospital Home was opened November 1952. The Accommodation was for physically disabled children. It was know as "The Crippled Home!" amongst the children of Woodford Bridge for reasons best known to Dr. Barnardo's the children were not allowed to mix with the other children in the village till the late 50s when they met at the Sunday service. Hanbury Hospital Closed August 1975 Children moved to New Mossford Barkingside.
