Deal opened June 1947 as a girls home. In 1954 boys were accepted. In July 1962, Deal became a branch home of Dr Barnardo's. Then in September 1969 the boys and girls were moved to Corner House. November 1973 became a holiday home for disabled children. Deal finally closed in October 1981.

Old PSTS boy Doug Amos was at the Clacton home, when Colonel and Mrs Dean took over from Mr Castle when the Watts Sea School Closed. The home was on the other side of the road, the photo above shows the then girls home the other side. Colonel and Mrs Dean, were very nice people said Doug Amos.
