Chester House.
Chester House was opened 1908 as a hostel for boys and some girls awaiting emigration. In 1914 it became a home for children with sensory disabilities. In 1924 it became a home for girls with sensory disabilities. The girls were then moved to Mare Street in 1926. In 1933 Chester House became a special home. It closed during the war years 1939 to 1945. Dr Barnardo's sold the property in 1950.
