Badgeworth Court opened as a Dr. Barnardo home in 1945 for boys aged five to 14 years. The boys came from Euston Hall that had been used as an evacuation centre. At the wars end Mr. Leslie transported two coach loads of boys across the country to Badgeworth Court and set up a fine home for some forty boys. Badgeworth Court closed as a Dr Barnardo home in May 1964. Today Badgeworth Court is a nursing home situated near to Cheltenham, the old house was built in 1829 and was the home of Colonel Selwyn Payne. His family crest is still visible in the many fine examples of stained glass. The existing building has seen an impressive restoration programme with an additional modern wing complementing the existing building with its Dutch colonial style. Outside their is a host of gardens where residents and their families can soak up the sun in a truly picturesque setting and timeless old-world charm.
