Haldane House,
Bogside-by-Alloa,
Fife.

Brankstone Grange also known as Haldane House was built in 1866 for the Dalgleish family, the architect was David Bryce of Edinburgh. Not much history is known until Dr. Barnardo's opened Haldane House in November 1946 as a home for boys of school age. In March of  1948 the home took in younger children. Sometime before 1955 Haldane House became a mixed home till it closed in December 1969. The Children were moved to the Tower, Edinburgh.

34/13 Childhood Memories a photographic history of Dr Barnardo's

I received an email 29/12/06 from Colin Lambert asking if anybody knows any further information about this old home. Colin's father and mother were in charge of Haldane House from 1946 to about 1948 Colin sent the two photos below along with four others showing the first arrival of children . If you have any further information or you would like copies of the photos contact the web Manager.
