Contact Alec 'Wiz' Willson Via Email 01/06/08 Plus Eric came to see
me 28/06/08
Alec contacted me after his son found the Goldonian web site, he
wrote: I was a centre court ball boy in 1953, the year Vic Seixas
was mens champion and "Little Mo", was ladies champion. I have a
press photo of me in the background with "little Mo" on court. I
also have a picture of the other boys on court with me. The names,
as far as I can remember were, from L to R. Graham Ferris, Alan
Blackburn, Ellis, don't remember name, Jimmy Watts, Alec Willson.

I
also have five copies of the "Goldonian", still in excellent
condition. My name was mentioned in the 1952 Summer edition
Inter-House Athletic Comp. I was in Pelham house and was the top
athlete of the day, winning 7 out of 7 events and also the cricket
ball event. I'm the one in the blazer in the middle picture, if you
have a copy of that year.

The
next year, 1953, I also won every event I was entered in giving me
my second "Victor Ludorum".
I
became a prefect , then house captain and finally ended up as school
captain after "
Rastus" Woods.
I
ended up living in Stevenage old town and spent 43 years there
before moving to Ivybridge, Devon to be near my Daughter. I also
have a home in Cape Town, South Africa where I spend six months of
the year, [no more winters for me].
I
remember John Woods because he became an extremely good folk singer
and I went to see him a couple of times when he came over from his
home in Sweden to perform at the Hitchin folk club in Sun Street. I
remember meeting with Jimmy James who was at those functions as
well, but I cannot remember the other guys who were there.
