On
Wednesday 9/12/08 I had a phone call from the water pistol king
Charlie Carson who now had a deep Canadian accent. He said he could
not remember the incident where he shot Pinhead square in the face
with his dirty bathwater and his house master
Jack Johnstone was
told to confiscate the weapon. This happened about a year before
leaving for Canada with his older brother Edward ‘Kit’ Carson . To
read what happened as told by their then housemaster Jack Johnstone

One
memory Charlie was able to recall was the night he entered the
Goldings Chapel and changed all the pipes about for the organ and
while there helped himself to the wine and wafer biscuits. He did
not remember having a heavy head the next day, but he does remember
the Sunday service was a little out of tune which nearly gave The
Rev Corbett a heart attack, he was red with rage as nobody would own
up to drinking the communion wine and eating wafers. If only he had
looked around the Chapel he would have noticed Charlie and the
person next to him with a bigger smile on their faces. I think this
incident was put down to outside influences and no one was ever
caught.
Today Charlie has retired as a truck driver which he did for many
years living in Canada. Charlie had served in the Canadian Army and
spent his time in Germany while his brother Edward ‘Kit’ Carson
spent his time in Korea where he was injured in both legs by a
mortar round. Kit passed away some years ago. The photo below
left was sent by David Smith of Edward ‘Kit’ Carson the one on the
right was sent by his brother Charlie. I will let you work out which
one is Kit.
