I remember some of the boys names but cannot match them to faces sorry to say.( it must be old age memory fade), I do hope this little bit of info is helpful to anyone who remembers me and some of the (out of bounds) fun we used to have, carry on with the good work............Bob.

McCall House Notes
Winter 1953

It gives us great pleasure to write these notes for the first time. We welcome to the Junior Houses Mr. and Mrs. Marriott who have taken the places of the House Masters.

We also welcome the new boys who have filled the Junior Houses.

SPORT: In cricket we had a lot of bad luck, we did not win a place in the house matches. But in football so far we are doing well. We are second in the League.

There is no more for us to say, so here's wishing all the boys and staff a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Monitors, S. Rackham and N.  Maconocitw

McCall House Notes
Winter 1953

House Parents: Mr. and Mrs. Marriott

It gives me great pleasure being a Monitor, to write the McCall House Notes for the first time.

Football, as far as we are concerned, has not been very successful. Out of every game we have played we have won only two. But we must congratulate Pelham on their victory over the other junior Houses and on winning the Cup.

One of the great events of this year for the juniors is the clothing scheme. Gradually the boys are going on, slowly but surely. We hope it will prove a success in the future. We must thank Miss Green for making the House Banners, which are very good indeed.

I end here with wishing everybody (Housemasters, boys and staff) a happy Easter.

Gaffney, Monitor

McCall House Notes
Winter 1950

Housemasters: Mr. G. Sanderman
House Captain:
House Prefects:

Once more we are at the end of another term, and once again it is time to report the progress of the house.

But first it is my very pleasant duty to welcome into our midst Brian Matthews, from Kingston and Keith Shanks from Leicester. We hope they will do all they can to help the house in every way. We have been making good progress in the realm of sport recently, as a glance at the last issue of The Goldonian Will tell you.

Turning to football, our First eleven is in its usual position, having lost every game at the time of writing. But the second eleven are doing extremely well, their position being second in the league. So far they have won four, drawn one, and lost one, having reached the end of round one. We have some up and coming footballers, and the future seems quite bright and cheerful.

Boxing is the next sport on the agenda, we hope to have quite a few entries, as in former years.

We are very pleased and proud, to know of our late house captain's promotion. We all congratulate him heartily on becoming School Captain Smith. Finally, on behalf of Mr. Sandmann our house master, and myself, may I take this opportunity in wishing everyone, a Very Happy Christmas and the best of everything in the New Year.

McCall House Notes
Winter 1949

Housemasters: Mr. P. F. East, Mr. W. H. S. Millar, Mr. H. deBoeck
House Captain: F. Forbes.
House Prefects: A. Couzens, M. Jones, E. Smith.

McCall have not been very outstanding at football this season. The first eleven have only drawn one game. It doesn't sound too good, but I think you will agree that although they have nearly always been the weaker team they have always played.

with good spirit and determination. Our star player was Morris Orton, who has played very well this season. McCall also congratulates him on being chosen for the School 1st team. The second eleven have done well, and have managed to get third place.

The outlook for next year seems good as the Houses by that time will be more evenly matched.

F. FORBES.

McCall House Notes
Summer 1949

Housemasters: Mr. P. F. East, Mr. W. H. S. Millar, Mr. H. deBoeck
House Captain:
House Prefects:

Since the last issue of The Goldonian, we have lost two of our all round sportsmen, Maurice Orton and Ernest Smith, who have gone out into the world as boot makers. We wish them every success and feel sure they will be a credit to the School.

We are very sorry to say that McCall came last in the cross‑country race, with 237 points against them. Our seniors did well by having only 40 points against them.

In the Athletic Sports we secured 50 points for the House but found ourselves at the foot of the table. However, in the Swimming Sports we had great pleasure in handing over the wooden spoon to our good friends of Buxton. We hope they will rejoice in the possession of it!

Our cricket first eleven have not done too well this season, being placed fifth in the table. We have one outstanding bowler in Tony Jode. The second eleven did better in reaching the third place. They got in the cricket Knock - out final, but lost by 7 runs, to Cairns.

We hope to have better luck at football this year. Up! McCall!

John Mansel Jones.

McCall House Notes
Summer 1948

House Masters: Mr. P. F. East, Mr. W. H. S. Millar, Mr. H. deBoeck
House Captain: G. F. Bousfiled
House Prefects: S. Jode, F. Forbes.

McCall, taking everything into consideration, has had generally, a more successful term. We came third in the cross‑country race and fourth in the athletics D. Smith contributed 28 points. We must congratulate him on winning the junior Victor Ludorum

In the Cricket competition we have played four games, two against Buxton, which we lost, and two against Cairns, one League match which we won, and one Cup match, which we lost. We have still four games to play.

The water polo competition is coming off very shortly and we hope to come somewhere near the top of this League.

Leave will soon be upon us and those of us who aren't going on leave will be going to Dymchurch; we hope all enjoy themselves, wherever they go.

School Captain Carr has left the School to start his new career in H. M. Navy. We wish  him every success and hope that he will have many pleasant memories of his days in McCall House and his work in the carpenters' shop.

R. B.
