House Notes
House parents:
Mr. A. P. Culver As the end of the term is drawing near it is my privilege to write the Somerset House notes. First of all I would like to welcome into the House the following boys: John McRoberts, lan McRoberts, Robert Hill, John Duxbury, Tony Davison, and Roger Furley. It was a great loss to the House when Robert Watkins left us in early January. He has done so much for the House in many ways as well as for the Cadets, and we were very sorry to lose the other boys who have left. SPORT: In football we are doing quite well as we are second in the league. We hope to do well in the cross-country run which is fast approaching us and I think if all the boys pull their weight we can win the Boxing Championships. Last year we lost by a very small margin ... I will finish by wishing Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley and all the staff, especially 'Skip', a very happy Easter. P. COPPING, House Captain. |

House Notes
House parents:
Mr. A. P. Culver As yet another term draws to its close I must write the House news. We welcome the new boys to the House and hope that they will carry on the good work done by their predecessors. We must bid farewell to two of our sportsmen, Prefect George Bryant and Trevor Vomberg, and we wish them the best of luck for the future. SPORT: Now we look back to the football season when Somerset won the Football Cup. It was the determination of our side that won us the Cup. In boxing we were narrowly beaten by Cairns; hard luck, boys, but keep your spirits high until the next contest. We were also runners-up in the inter-House cricket competition, but we are eagerly looking forward to a drink out of the Swimming Cup! We all hope that "Skipper" enjoyed his holiday. R. WATKINS, House Captain |

House Notes
House parents:
Mr. A. P. Culver It is my privilege to take up the pen and write Somerset's House Notes. We are doing well at football, being top of the league table at the time these notes are being written. The House should be able to hold their own against the tough opposition from Aberdeen and Cairns in the inter-House Boxing Competition. Most boys may remember that Somerset have been boxing champions for the last three years. I hope Freddie Mills arrives here safely for the inter-House Tournament. We are sorry to lose F. Jeffries, A. Taylor, C. Macatamney, S. Cleary and M. Powrie who left us during the term. We shall miss their contributions in the House activities but wish them the best of luck in their new surroundings. I am sure that Mr. and Mrs. (Sister) Offord will be missed when they depart from Goldings. They have both done a wonderful service to the School and I hope you will join me in wishing them every possible success in their new jobs. Best wishes from all of Somerset for Easter. R. WATKINS, House Captain |

House Notes
House parents:
Mr. A. P. Culver We are doing fairly well in Somerset House and managing to keep our end up with the various sporting activities. The football is going well and we should be at the top of the League at the end of the season. We hope to retain the boxing cup again, all being well. At cricket, swimming and cross-country we were not left behind. This term we have lost J. Page, B. Cummings, T. Freelander, and R. Andrews and we wish them all success in their new life. The newcomers to the House were T. Whitehead, T. Vomberg, R. Wright, D. Wright, M. Chaytors, M. Stevens and D. Munday. We welcome them to Somerset and hope they will play their part in the School and sporting life of the House. Christmas will soon be with us and I would wish all those in Somerset who are going on leave and those that stay with us a very happy time. We all wish the Headmaster a speedy recovery from his illness and wish him and his family a very happy Christmas. We do not forget our own House master and hope that he, too, will have a happy Christmas and he will not forget to bring round the tea and biscuits on Christmas morning. J. BROWN, Prefect |
