Hi. My Mum, Ivy Maud Biles, was in Dr Barnardo's Homes form 1922 aged 7. I don't know where to look for information about her and the time she spent in the Homes and wondered if you could help. I am very interested in what was happening in the homes in that era. Regards Denise Middleditch

Dear Sir, My mother ( who is now almost 87 years ) was a Barnardo girl and as far as I can determine entered into Barkingside  circa 1925-26 . According to my mother ( who is now having short memory problems ) she was taken there by an “auntie “ ,whether or not this was a relation or a family friend I do not know . I am trying to trace my mothers biological family and I was wondering if there was a register of child’s name,  actual date when entering Barnardo’s ,and who actually signed the child over to Barnardo’s ?? At the time my mother entered Barkingside she was Vera Joan  Brooker  , her mothers name was Florence Fanny Brooker. Any help to try and piece together my mothers relatives / family would be greatly appreciated  Thank you for your time and look forward to your reply. Ted Fletcher
