Congratulations on an excellent web page. I am only recently in touch with Barnardo's and received a pile of Guild Messengers. Consequent memories crowding in! It would be great to contact Bob Pegg (I played Right-half and Bob was on the wing). And Brian McCarthy (Mac), sitting patiently under flood-lamps while I fiddled with camera settings. Have not seen any mention of Mr Whitbread, lorry driver and manager-coach of the soccer teams. Best job was helping Mr Whitbread on the bread-run to Stepney. I lost that perk to the lousy task of being domestic slave to Pinhead and family. He was not pleased when I smashed his son's egg-collection on the bed and caused the maid to have hysterics. I would be especially grateful for news of Len Mott, ex-School Captain.

I have just read the advertisement in the local paper for your reunion. Searching the web I have found your site. My dad was at Goldings 1962-1965; he remembers a lot of his friends and often talks about them. He has never been to a reunion and he doesn’t know about this one. I would like to give him a surprise day out and just bring him. Could you send me some information please?

The good news I have a computer and I'm in touch with some of the old boys of my time at Goldings also my old House Master Jack Johnstone in Canada, he would like to hear from any old boys of his time at Goldings.

Can any old-boys put these members of staff in there workshops,  due to age and forgetfulness and also not being in the shops as such, I was in the gardening dept. The names I can conjure up are below, can you add any more? Also who was put in charge of the new wash-house, his wife ran The Chocolate Box down in Hertford Town while he worked up at Goldings during the daytime. Come on lads thinking caps on.

Then we had a Mr Moon in the boiler house didn't he have a motorbike that always had a puncture?? Mr Williams Chief Exec what did he call himself or more to the point what did we used to call him and not forgetting Mr Fogg did Mr Moss take his place and just what did Mr Moss give us boys in his very first lesson. I know I was 2nd in line! I have forgot who was first.

Mr. W. H. Riley, Mr. G. Penny, Mr. C. Howell . Mr Randall and Gaffer Green "up with the skylark" .

Dear sir,

When my uncle John McCartney died in 1997 we had the job of clearing his house. Among his things was a reference to Goldings.

"10 December 1923 Jack was confirmed by the Bishop of Oxford, at St. John's Church". The names written with this record were "Teachers on Sunday Mr Jenkins, Rev. Guilford and Mr Gantly".

I had no idea who or what Goldings might be until I saw the reference to your reunion in the Birmingham Evening Mail. So pleased to have seen your site. Thank you

Hello, my name is Judith Hill, my husband is Peter Hill, his father Claude Grinling Hill we believe worked at Goldings as a Games Master sometime between 1941 and 1948. They apparently lived in the "Clock House" at Goldings. The family emigrated to Australia in September 1948, and were in care of some Boys from Barnardos who were being brought to Australia. We were wondering if anyone had information about his time at Goldings, as he has passed away now and the children do not have any information at all. We managed to get this much from the childrens birth certificates and small bits of information from family members that are left. My husband and I are arriving in the UK on the 16th August 2004, to visit with our daughter in Hawkinge and would like to see Goldings while we are there, and maybe get some more information at that time. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Yours truly - Judith Hill

Name is Dick Davies. Aberdeen from Sept. 1950-Spring 1954 when I signed my indentures and remained at the School in Printing until 1957. To "Netta" who is looking for Casey Turner. I met him at a boot sale in Harlow, Essex, last summer, around August/September 2003. As he was a year or two spare to me, it was him that recognised me of course! At that point the memories kick in and you suddenly drop back 50 years. I think he said he was living in Harlow but never said where.

I am writing on behalf of my brother in law who attended the above school from 1953-56. My brother's name is JOHN BAILEY. He would like to contact anybody who remembers him, particularly 'Peter Turner' aka 'Casey', or hear from any person who may know Peter's whereabouts. 0bviously I am aware of 'friends reunited' site, which is where I got your name and address, but unfortunately there were no other names in the time John attended, and a wild hope that you may help has led me to write here. If you do know anything regarding the above named, please contact me and I will pass on any messages to John. Thanking you Yours,

Belated happy new year to all of you Goldings lads out there. Last weekend we went down to Hertford to meet up with one of my very good friends after 40 years, Tony Angel found me off the Goldings message board. We both went for a few pints in Hertford, he got me drunk ? Never did have much will power. Mulled over old times at Goldings. I am trying to seek out more lads from the 60's who can't work a computer. Get your kids to show you how to do it like me. Some of the names we remembered were Chris Horsnell, Mike Hultum, Keith Bishop, Norman Brown, Keith McSweeny, Robert Atkins, David Gee, Eric Wylmore, Terence Stevens, Twisty and many more. If there's anymore out there that remember me or Tony get in touch and we can have another dry night out? Ha Ha Get your A---- down to our next reunion. First Saturday in October 2004.
