Colin Topley has given us a link to a new careleavers web site http://www.careleaversreunited.com/ WBTS Goldings is now registered as one of the Homes on there. At the moment, as it is a very new site there are not many people registered, so if you are interested take a look and register. You also have the opportunity to register and other home you were in. At the end of the day, the more avenues we have to explore the better chance we have of coming across our old friends.

This message is for any Goldings people who might remember Michael Foreman (or his twin brother John) from their time at either the Village or Annesley in the New Forest. Michael recently suffered a stroke & is currently in Southampton General Hospital, ward G7A, where he is likely to remain for a week or more yet. The full address & tel no: Ward G7A, Southampton General Hospital, Tremona Road, Southampton, Hampshire, SO16 6YD Tel : 02380 777 222 He is expected to recover though how well he will be afterwards is not yet known. I know he would be really pleased to receive calls or mail from fellow DBH friends. Thanks very much to Woody for bringing to my attention that this you don't need to be a Goldings old boy to post messages. Colin Topley (ex-Village & Annesley)

My Name is Leslie Johnson and I must congratulate you about your web site for Goldings. I was at Dame Margarets Home at Washington; Co Durham from 1934 to 1941 Many boys went to Goldings and a few going to Watts Naval, or Russell Coats. Since Barnardo’s released our records, I have tried to contact any old boys and girls of DMH but I have only managed to contact Norman Faiers who also went to Goldings. Dame Margarets was a “one off” and it would seem Barnardo’s weren’t keen to discuss. If any old boy or girl can remember me please contact the Webmaster with your details so he can pass on any information. Great Web site I only wish DMH had a similar web site.

We have yet another success story in reuniting old friends. John has now managed to contact Les, and they are both chuffed about it. Which shows, it’s it’s limited way, that the web site is achieving it’s main aims that it was set up for. How many new faces will attend the reunion this year we have yet to see. But we know that we have received numerous enquiries from Old Boys that have visited the web site, and were unaware of the reunions until then. We expect this years reunion to be a milestone in the history of our reunions, be a part of it be there on 4th October.

I love Johnny Leach's comments about being a Wimbledon Ball Boy and not liking it as I said in my comments I lapped up the attention I don't know maybe it was just me but I don't think so.  Since I have had my computer which isn't long I have enjoyed the website and have just come across a name I know Les Greenough I am also trying to get in touch with Robert Pegg does anyone out there know about his whereabouts.  So lets have some lads getting in touch with the website I was at Goldings from June 1947 to Nov1950 in Buxton house and Mr Leeson was the Housemaster I was in the bookmakers [Snobs]

Calling all old Goldings boys of 1947 to 51 do you know the whereabouts’ of Keith Ramsbottom, Gerald Ashby, and Tutty Jones? As they all owe Johnny Leach for roll-ups received, as some of you know John now lives in Northants number 2 Poverty Street on the corner of Hardupbend. John can be found raiding the bird tables most nights in Northampton, but never on a full moon as he does not want to be seen nicking the birds food. As this is his only source of food apart from his monthly treat of a Pot noodle. You can reach John on 01604 475855 John is soon to get a pooter so you can contact him on the email addy below

Hi there, I am a 'Goldonian' of the period 1945 - 48. I can remember very few names of this period (inmates or otherwise), except the following:- Headmaster:- Mr 'Pinhead' Wheatley. Gym Master:- Joe Patch Master:- Mr Maslin Houses:- I think I was in something named 'Buxton'. ? Inmates:- Javia Revuelta (probably spelt wrongly) 'Moragrega' 'Butcher' 'Fisher' And this is about all. However, I was a centre court Wimbledon ball-boy in 46 & 48. Somewhere I have a newspaper cutting of all of us arriving at Wimbledon. If I can lay my hands on it, would you like me to send you through a scanned version of it. ? Finally, if there is any way my details can be put onto the site, in an attempt to 'find' anybody who 'served' at the same time, I'd be delighted. Meanwhile, good luck to everybody. Unfortunately, I doubt I can make the reunion. But I hope it goes well. Regards ---- Colin Leaney (trained as a 'tinsmith', finished up as 'nuclear scientist' !!! ).

We have just found the wonderful photo of our Dad, Peter Tozer, on the Victor King photo page. It is especially precious because Dad died on July 8th this year. Thank you so much for this wonderful, comprehensive website. Dad would have got a great kick out of seeing his photo there, and it would have been great to hear him reminisce and tell us about the other boys he recognised. We'll enjoy exploring it anyway. Meantime, if anyone has memories of Dad they would like to share, we'd love to hear from them. God bless, Nancy van Dorp (nee Tozer)

You hear all this stuff about people being prosecuted for abuse. Whatever happened to "Pumblebum" (I won't mention his name). He should certainly have been prosecuted.

Great to see more people emailing you with comments about the site. I agree with the comments about all of us sending just a bit to help keep the site running without Frank stumping up all the time. I personally get a lot of pleasure from reading all of the comments. Cheque is in the post Frank. I went up to get my records a few years ago and it was a real eye opener. My opinion of Barnardo's has completely changed as I have found out that without Pinhead taking a chance on me when a lot of lies had been said, I don't know what would have happened to me. When I find a bit of time I will put it ALL down in writing. It might help to get it off my chest although a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. My thanks to Trish Scott at Barkingside who was absolutely brilliant when I went up to get my records. It is good to see that she is back in the fold as I heard that she had been made redundant. It's nice to have had contact with people like Winston Norton (I will email you soon Winnie) and John McLeer. Keep up the good work on the site lads. Sorry I wont be able to make the reunion this year but I have a prior engagement with a golf course in the south of Spain (yes my priorities are right). Regards to anyone that knew me at Goldings. Email me if you like.
